Opportunities with Royston Animal Welfare
Dog Walking
We keep our rescued dogs waiting for new homes at Robroyd Kennels in Barnsley.
All our dogs are human friendly but some may require lead training!
To be a volunteer dog walker you will need:
To be passionate about dogs
Confidence with dogs of all sizes and temperaments
Act on training techniques given by our dog coordinator
Able to control dogs that may pull on the lead
Have a good level of fitness
Available for at least one hour to walk the dogs on any one day at 10am
Walk only one dog at a time
Please note we have a high volume of people wanting to come and dog walk for us and only a handful of dogs that need walking. Applicants we think have what it takes will be placed onto our waiting list.
For more information please email your details, experience and reasons for wanting to get involved to gemma@roystonanimalwelfare.org
Fund Raising
As a small charity we rely totally on volunteers to raise funds to cover the costs of the work we do. We do this in many ways:
Attending galas with stalls, raffles, tombolas
Auctions, one off fundraising events
Collections in town & at Barnsley football ground etc.
To be involved with this activity you will need to be:
Outgoing and willing to chat to people about the charity
Good with money (handling change etc)
Able to give at least one half day support to a particular event
You can also support us by doing your own sponsored event and raising money for us such as running a marathon, climbing a mountain, jumping out of an aeroplane, doing a sponsored walk or silence.
For help please dont hesitate to contact us at: enquiries@roystonanimalwelfare.org
We are always in need of suitable items for raffles/tombola/auctions/carboots, if you can support us in this way then please get in touch to arrange drop off/collection.
Meetings
You are also welcome to attend our meetings which are held at 7.00 pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the Emanuel methodist church Huddersfield Road, Barnsley, S75 1DT. Please come along.
